Parkland Crime Update: Stolen Bathtubs and Propane Tank Explosion

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes and other Parkland incidents through February 21, 2022. 

Fire

Kalmar Cir. N.

On 02/17/2022, deputies and Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Rescue responded to a residential fire after a propane tank exploded. The house did not catch fire but the outdoor patio sustained fire damage.

Found Property

10555 Trails End

Property was found at Pine Trails Park on 2/15/2022. Someone turned over a found woman’s bicycle. The bicycle was found approximately one and a half to two months ago by a park ranger and valued at approximately $100.

Information

Nob Hill Rd./Heron Bay Blvd N.

On 02/18/2022, the reporter alleged that while driving the school bus into the community, the entryway gate arm made contact with the side of the school bus. There were 19 kids on board but no injuries were reported.

Lost Property

N. Pine Island Rd.

On 02/21/2022, the reporter stated that their daughter’s headphones went missing from a bus at her high school. Unknown if the headphones were stolen or went missing on the bus at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, or at another location after they left.

Property Damage

Watercrest Cir. W.

On 02/16/2022, a reporter stated that a semi-truck hit the security gate arm entering a community. The arm was broken off from the gate.

Retail Theft

N. State Rd. 7

On 02/16/2022, an unknown male entered a store, picked up three blood pressure monitors off a shelf and walked out without paying. Tot. Est. Loss: $281.97.

Theft From Building

Acadia Ct.

On 02/16/2022, the reporter alleged that an unknown subject stole five uninstalled bathtubs from inside newly constructed homes.

Threat Assessment Report

 8401 N. University Dr.

A threat assessment report was made at Somerset Parkland Academy on 02/15/2022, No victims were listed.
