Jaclyn Milian, the Heron Heights Elementary School third-grader who competed in the national finals of Major League Baseball’s Pitch, Hit & Run competition, is now an MLB record-holder.
The Parkland nine-year-old broke the record for the longest hit in her age division during the Nov. 1 contest.
The previous hit-distance record for the competition’s seven and eight-year-old softball division was 126 feet.
Milian struck a ball 139 feet.
The pitch hit and run final was held during the Major League Baseball World Series at Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, who won the series against the Houston Astros to become world champions.
To earn a spot in Atlanta, Milian bested scores of competitors in her age division during four rounds of local competition, plus the high-profile regional contest at loanDepot Park, home of the Miami Marlins.
Her contest score in Miami helped place her in the top three female softball competitors in the U.S. and Canada for her age division.
In Atlanta, Milan competed for the top prize against Taylor Holmes of Allendale, New Jersey, and Tatum Frisby of Muskogee, Oklahoma. She finished second behind Frisby.

A number of Major League Baseball standouts have participated in MLB’s Pitch, Hit & Run contest as youngsters, including San Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer, Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Andrew McCutchen, and first baseman Rhys Hoskins, and baseball’s number one overall draft pick in 2020, the Detroit Tigers’ Spencer Torkelson.
