A pair of High School volleyball teams in Coconut Creek are set to begin the postseason in the upcoming District Tournament, while two others finished a beach volleyball season.
Monarch High School shone during the regular season, winning 14 of its 19 matches this season. The Knights recently beat Miramar High School in three sets in the final home match for Preston Hoang, Gabriel Meis, Max Versil, and Elijah Drogalis. They went on to lose against Western High School on Wednesday, but head into the District Tournament as the two seed. They will play West Boca Raton Community High School on Tuesday, April 29, at 6 p.m.
The Bulls are 11-12 this season and lost in five sets to the Knights earlier this season. Boca Raton Community High School will have a bye before it faces Olympic Heights or Marjory Stoneman Douglas.
Coconut Creek High School enters the District Tournament following two wins this year. They came this month after beating Hallandale High School in four sets on April 14 and McArthur in three sets on Tuesday. The Cougars had previously won two sets against Everglades, along with one against Monarch High School, and will head into the postseason as the fifth seed.
They will play Boynton Beach High School in the opening round on Monday, April 28, at 6 p.m. The Tigers went 5-8 this year but finished the season with two straight wins. The winner of this game will play Coral Springs High School, while Atlantic and Deerfield Beach High School will each play after receiving byes in the opening round.
Monarch High School also completed its inaugural season in beach volleyball with a pair of wins over Coral Springs High School. The Knights won nine of the ten and also had one victory in their matchups against Sports Leadership Slam, Management, and St. Thomas Aquinas High School. They went on to play in the District Tournament as the sixth seed and dropped all five matches to West Boca Raton High School. They previously recognized their seniors Adriana Rivera, Alina Natal, Narcela Xavier, Gabriella Koprowski, Isabella Figuerido, Jensyn Clark, Maya Ferrara, and Donna Bedoya.
North Broward Prep’s beach volleyball team completed its season, losing all four of its matches in the District Tournament. NBP was the sixth seed after winning matches this year against Highlands Christian, Sports Leadership and Management, and Somerset Academy Canyons.
