In the last three years, the Marjory Stoneman Douglas baseball team had three players selected in the early rounds of the MLB Draft.
While playing on separate teams and at different levels, they all shined in the Minor Leagues for their respective teams. Here’s an update.
Coby Mayo
A 2020 MSD graduate, Coby Mayo was selected in the third round of the MLB Draft. He has quickly blossomed into one of the Baltimore Orioles top prospects ranking at number seven.

After making his spring training debut with the Orioles against Anthony Rizzo and the New York Yankees, Mayo started the season in Single-A before being promoted to the Double-A team in August.
In total, Mayo hit 19 home runs and drove in 59 runs. He also stole six bases and now has 28 homers and 100 RBIs in 570 career minor league at-bats.
Gavin Conticello
A 2021 graduate of MSD, Gavin Conticello was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Like Mayo, Conticello made his spring training debut and went 2-2 with an RBI in his first game.

Conticello started the season in rookie ball and was then promoted to Single-A in August. The former State Champion with the Eagles combined to hit three home runs and drove in 34 runs.
Roman Anthony
After graduating in May and getting selected in the third round of the MLB Draft in June, Roman Anthony spent half a season playing with the Boston Red Sox organization.
The two-time State Champion started in Rookie Ball, hit .429, and had seven RBIs, and was later promoted to Single-A and had seven hits in 37 at-bats.
