On Friday night, Monarch High School football was well-represented in the Miami-Dade Broward All-Star Game.
Despite falling 23-21, Florida Atlantic University commit Walter Parrish was one of two receivers selected alongside Jessie Fields. Those two receivers excelled playing with quarterback A.J. Hairston, combining for over 1,400 yards and recording 15 touchdown receptions in a season where Monarch won their first District Championship since 2014 and reached the Regional Semifinals before falling in overtime to Palm Beach Gardens High School.
Running back Willie Reed was also selected after rushing for 971 yards and eight touchdowns. He had five games this past season where he rushed for over 100 yards in a game and also added a pair of catches out of the backfield while one of his blockers, Winstanson Mathurin, will also have the chance to play and work under Marjory Stoneman Douglas Head Coach Quentin Short.
The lone defensive player for Monarch was Gavin Peacock. He led the team in tackles with 123 and was named First Team All-County Team alongside Fields.
