Former Marjory Stoneman Douglas star offensive tackle Michael McLaughlin officially made his debut with the Miami Hurricanes with his first appearance during Miami’s 69-0 win over Central Connecticut State University on September 25.
“It was great to get in, and the main goal was to take advantage of the opportunity last week,” McLaughlin said. “As the year goes on, my main focus is to continue improving my strength and technique.”
In his debut, the freshman played 18 snaps at right tackle, grading out exceptionally well. He earned a 74.1 run-block grade and 72.5 pass-blocking grade, not allowing any quarterback pressures.
McLaughlin did not always play offensive tackle, starting as a tight end before transitioning to the offensive line during his junior season. He only played six high school games but still ranked among the best in the country.
Next, the University of Miami, who comes into Week 5 at 2-2, plays a home game against the University of Virginia on Thursday, September 30 at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
