Calvin Davis of Monarch High School was officially awarded Broward County Football Coach of the Year.
He becomes the first coach in school history to win the award after leading the Knights to an 11-3 season. The Knights also went on to win their second straight District Championship and first Regional Title.
“This is something I have been working towards my whole career,” Davis said. “Individual awards have never been my focus, but this meant a lot because it shows that your peers recognize what you do as a coach and the hard work that goes into having a great season.”
Offensively, the Knights tossed for 4,442 passing yards and threw 37 touchdown passes. They also ran for 2.253 yards and 26 scores, while the defense pitched four shutouts and held their opponents to seven points or less in eight games. They finished the season with 62.5 sacks and picked off 16 passes. Monarch also had four touchdowns on special teams.
The Knights had 14 seniors sign to play college football this past year and are set for an exciting season in 2024. The Knights will face some of the best teams in Broward County and travel to Georgia and Orlando. Their first game is set for August 22 against Peachtree Ridge High School in the Broward County National Football Showcase.
