It began as a promise to future generations, eventually growing into a call to action supporting and empowering women with breast cancer.
When a group of Parkland and Coral Springs women founded the organization Not My Daughter…find a cure now! they were determined to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.
Ten years later, this organization has raised over $1 million, to fund research and this week is announcing the new Not My Daughter… Find a cure now! Patient Support Services Resource Center.
Located in the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center in Plantation, the center will be providing free ancillary services to those suffering from cancer and unable to afford treatment.
Denyse Hostig, co-founder and co-chairwoman of NMD said they are giving back to the community in significant ways and it’s their honor to make sure that they provide support where it’s needed most.
“As a cancer survivor, I am especially proud that Not My Daughter…Find a Cure Now! is able to make a difference for those going through treatment.”
The group’s signature event, the annual Not My Daughter…find a cure now! Shopping Boutique and Luncheon draws over 500 attendees and raises spirits, funds, and awareness.
Each year the community of supporters grows and eagerly anticipates this event, and proceeds have made it possible to support cancer-based research through organizations such as Greater Broward Pap Corps, as well as establishing opportunities to help directly provide resources to those in need.
For the past decade, Not My Daughter’s organization of volunteers has held a variety of events such as tennis tournaments, merchandise sales, and partnerships, to draw attention and raise funds for its cause. The group even yielded a new generation of advocates with the Not My Daughter Teen Advisory Committee, who also support the mission and bring awareness to a younger generation. The groups work together to build alliances in the community that make it possible to gain attention and bring changes to build a brighter future together.
“The opportunity to bring needed support so that those going through treatment have the help they need, in a compassionate and respectful place, is what drives our organization, connects us to the community, and makes the Not My Daughter…find a cure now! Patient Support Services Resource Center so special,” said Hostig.
The Not My Daughter… Find a cure now! Patient Support Services Resource Center is located within the Braman Family Breast Cancer Institute at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center 8100 SW 10th Street, Plantation, FL.
