Man Uses Boiling Water and Butcher Knife in Terrifying Domestic Assault

A man was arrested for aggravated domestic assault following allegations of threatening a woman with a potentially lethal combination of boiling water and a butcher knife.

On June 29, Coconut Creek Police responded to a residence in response to a domestic violence disturbance.

According to the arrest report, officers met with a victim who claimed a man, later identified as Edward Denton Williams, 47, had become violent to the point she feared for her life.

During a verbal argument, the victim told officers that Williams allegedly retrieved a pot of boiling water from the kitchen and approached her threateningly.

Fearing for her safety, the victim recounted how she turned away from him to avoid being scalded by the boiling water and that after some back-and-forth, he subsequently placed the pot back on the stove but continued threatening her.

As the altercation further escalated, the victim told CCPD Williams grabbed a 6 to 8-inch black butcher knife, which had been used for cooking, and chased after her.

Terrified she would be stabbed, the victim said Williams allegedly held the knife inches from her face before eventually placing it on the kitchen counter and leaving the area.

Once matters calmed down and Williams left home, the victim quickly contacted the police, who located and interviewed him to gain his side of the story.

According to records, Williams denied all allegations that he threatened the victim with boiling water or a knife. Rather, he claimed the argument was merely a heated exchange over the Ring camera login credentials.

The report notes that two witnesses at the home corroborated the victim’s claims of being threatened, particularly with a butcher knife.

Witnesses and the victim also told officers that Williams had a firearm in his front right pocket throughout the ordeal, putting everyone in fear for their lives.

The firearm was later recovered and impounded by law enforcement.

Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
