Plans are moving forward on MainStreet at Coconut Creek, the most prominent new development in the city.
During the September 26 meeting, the commission approved a site plan David Auld of Johns Family Partners submitted for 80 two-story townhomes within MainStreet at Coconut Creek.
The block 9 property is on the southwest corner of Cullum Road and NW 54 Avenue.
The commission agreed to the site plan after discussing parking, security fencing, and gates.
According to the MainStreet website, the development will be a 200-acre mixed-use development that will include a large grocery store, smaller retailers, restaurants, an extensive greenway system, parks, a central gathering space known as Mainstreet Square, and residential neighborhoods. It will be considered a major destination for the residents and surrounding communities.
According to the MainStreet website, it will be pedestrian-friendly and have extensive trails and paths for people who want to walk, jog or ride a bicycle.
