The City of Coconut Creek has announced a 2025 Boys Basketball League for kids ages 8 to 11.
This league offers young athletes the perfect opportunity to enjoy competitive basketball while staying active and having fun. Participants will compete in ten regular season games, with playoffs leading to a thrilling championship game.
The league is split into two age divisions based on the player’s age as of August 31, 2025. The 9U division is for boys ages 8 to 9, typically in 2nd and 3rd grade, while the 11U division is for boys ages 10 to 11, generally in 4th and 5th grade. Players will receive a full basketball uniform, including a jersey and shorts.
Player evaluations will take place on Saturday, January 4, 2025. The 11U evaluations will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the 9U at 1:30 PM. Practices are set to begin the week of January 6, 2025, with times, days, and locations determined by volunteer coaches once teams are finalized.
The season will officially tip-off on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. The 9U division will play on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays, while the 11U division will play on Thursday evenings and Saturdays.
Both divisions will conclude the season with a championship game and awards ceremony on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
All evaluations, games, and championship day will be hosted at the Coconut Creek Community Center at 1100 Lyons Road. Practices will take place indoors, either at the Community Center or the Recreation Complex at 4455 Sol Press Boulevard.
The league is open to Coconut Creek residents for $120 and non-residents for $170. To qualify as residents, participants must provide a state-issued driver’s license or passport and a voter’s registration card, water bill, cable bill, or electric bill dated within two months of submission. Payments will only be accepted via credit card.
Volunteer coaches are needed to help make this league a success. Anyone interested in coaching should contact the Community Center at 954-545-6670 or email CreekSportsBasketball@coconutcreek.net. All volunteers must complete an application, background screening, and fingerprinting. A shortage of coaches may result in reduced registration or adjustments to age divisions.
Registration for the Boys Basketball League opens on November 1, 2024, and will remain open until December 31, 2024, or until spaces are filled. Registration can be completed online at CoconutCreek.net/WebTrac or at the Community Center or Recreation Complex.
