A Coconut Creek man was arrested after severely assaulting two people and attacking with a firearm.
On February 23, the Coconut Creek Police Department responded to a residence in response to a domestic assault incident involving a firearm.
According to records, CCPD spoke to a victim who recounted how a man, later identified as David Duran, 33, of Coconut Creek, allegedly violently assaulted them and a concerned neighbor who attempted to intervene.
The incident began as Duran allegedly physically assaulted the first victim by shoving her to the ground and repeatedly punching her in the head, according to the report.
The situation escalated when the second victim, a neighbor, intervened, attempting to separate Duran from the victim. However, the neighbor getting involved angered Duran, who redirected his aggression towards the neighbor.
Duran allegedly pulled out a firearm during the altercation, pointed at them, and stated, “I will kill you.” The neighbor told officers that rather than shoot him, Duran hit him in the head with the gun and fled the scene.
Officers viewed visible injuries on both victims, including cuts and bruises.
On February 24, 2024, an officer observed Duran traveling on SR 810 and conducted a traffic stop. Duran was promptly arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
