The Coconut Creek Police Department is hosting a Drug Take Back event to ensure the safe disposal of prescription medications and prevent misuse.
The Drug Take Back takes place on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coconut Creek Community Center at 1100 Lyons Road. Community members can bring their unused, expired, or unwanted prescription medications for safe disposal. The event aims to ensure medications do not fall into the wrong hands or negatively impact the environment.
Organized as part of the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, the event is hosted as a drive-thru to make it convenient for community members to participate.
The Coconut Creek Fire Rescue Department will also be on-site to collect used needles and syringes in a designated sharps container. Inhalers, aerosol medications, e-cigarettes, vapes, and cartridges will not be accepted.
Residents who wish to participate in the initiative can drive up and drop off their medications, no questions asked.
