Young minds in Coconut Creek are about to get sharper—one move at a time—as the city launches its Instructional Chess Club for kids.
The City of Coconut Creek announces its new Chess Club, designed for elementary school students.
The program is open to children aged 6 to 11 and welcomes players of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced enthusiasts.
Set to take place every Wednesday from February 5 through March 12, the club will run from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the city’s Recreation Complex, located at 4455 Sol Press Boulevard.
Staff members will be on hand to guide beginners through the rules and basic strategies of the game, making it an inclusive environment for all participants.
The cost of the program is $20 for Coconut Creek residents and $30 for non-residents. Payment must be made via credit card. Space is limited to just eight participants, ensuring a personalized experience for all attendees.
Registration for the Instructional Chess Club is ongoing until the program reaches capacity. Interested families can register online at CoconutCreek.net/WebTrac or at the Recreation Complex or the Community Center at 1100 Lyons Road.
Participants registering online must first create a WebTrac account, and assistance with setting up an account is available by contacting the Recreation Complex at 954-956-1580.
