The cities of Coconut Creek and Margate are working together on two projects.
During the July 10 meeting, the Coconut Creek commission approved a resolution for an interlocal agreement between the cities for the South Creek Neighborhood Improvements Project and Margate’s Watermain Improvements Project in the South Creek area.
The construction of Coconut Creek’s South Creek Neighborhood Improvements Project (mobility project), which includes traffic calming features, roadway resurfacing, widening of existing bridges, sidewalk improvements, and drainage improvements, is scheduled to begin during Fiscal Year 2029, depending on Broward County surtax funding, according to city information.
Construction of the remaining phases of the Margate Watermain Improvements Project (utilities project) in South Creek, which includes the rehabilitation and new installation of water and wastewater infrastructure, is currently in the design phase.
Both cities have agreed to coordinate the schedules of the mobility project and the utilities project. The goal is to ensure that all phases of Margate’s utilities project are completed before construction begins on Coconut Creek’s mobility project. This approach will help prevent duplicate roadway restoration within Coconut Creek, protect road rights-of-way, and minimize disruption to residents, as stated in city information.
