Coconut Creek Fishing Derby 2024. {City of Coconut Creek}
Attention all fishing enthusiasts. The Annual Fishing Derby at Sabal Pines Park is slated for March, and you won’t want to miss it.
The City of Coconut Creek has announced its 2025 Annual Fishing Derby, an event that promises fun, competition, and the chance to enjoy the serene surroundings of Sabal Pines Park.
Set to take place on Saturday, March 1, the derby will run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the park’s lake.
Participants of all ages are invited to join in the fishing fun, with awards given for the weirdest catch, heaviest fish, and the most fish caught. The event encourages a catch-and-release practice to ensure that the fish are returned to the lake safely after being caught.
While the derby welcomes participants of all ages, those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Participants are reminded to bring their own fishing gear and bait to ensure they are ready for the competition. The entry fee is $15 for Coconut Creek residents and $20 for non-residents, with payments accepted via credit card only.
Space for the derby is limited to 20 participants, so early registration is recommended. Those interested can register online at CoconutCreek.net/WebTrac or in person at the Recreation Complex, located at 4455 Sol Press Boulevard, or at the Community Center, 1100 Lyons Road. Online registration requires a WebTrac account, and anyone needing assistance setting up an account can contact the Recreation Complex at 954-956-1580 for support.
Participants can check in on the event day at the two-story pavilion near the football and soccer fields at Sabal Pines Park, located at 5005 NW 39th Avenue.
