Congressman Jared Moskowitz has a long history of public service and leadership. He was first elected to the Parkland City Commission in 2006 and served in that capacity until 2012 when he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives for the 97th District.
As a state representative, Moskowitz helped draft and advance the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Safety Act, which focused on gun safety, mental health, and school security reform. His efforts were instrumental in bringing significant changes to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff across Florida schools.
In 2019, Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Moskowitz as the Florida Division of Emergency Management Director. In this role, he managed the state’s emergency response efforts, including overseeing the response to Hurricane Michael and establishing testing programs, vaccine rollout, and the distribution of personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In January 2022, Governor DeSantis appointed Moskowitz to the Broward County Commission’s 8th District, where he worked to improve the region’s critical infrastructure, affordable housing, public transportation, and public safety.
In late-2022, Moskowitz announced his candidacy for Florida’s then-22nd District, which was later redistricted to the 23rd District. His campaign gained significant support, with endorsements from all Coral Springs and Parkland city commission members, State Rep. Dan Daley, State Sen. Tina Polsky, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Moskowitz faced Republican Joe Budd in the general election on November 8 and emerged victorious with 51.6 percent of the vote, securing his position as the representative for Florida’s 23rd District.
