A resident of Coconut Creek has been charged with two bank robberies in South Florida.
Courtney Mallory, 44, was arrested on July 17, 2024, following allegations that he robbed banks in Boca Raton and Delray Beach.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office Southern District of Florida, the first robbery occurred on June 5, 2024, at a Truist Bank located on State Road 441 in Boca Raton.
According to authorities, Mallory entered the bank at approximately 9:30 a.m., wearing a mask and brandishing what appeared to be a firearm. He allegedly forced bank employees to open the vault and fled with thousands of dollars in a dark blue Nissan.
A second robbery took place on July 12, 2024, at a Bank of America on Jog Road in Delray Beach. Once again, Mallory is accused of wearing a mask and brandishing a firearm.
He escaped with a significant amount of cash, fleeing the scene in a dark blue Nissan similar to the one used in the Boca Raton robbery.
Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents apprehended Mallory at his residence in Coconut Creek.
During the arrest and a subsequent search of his vehicle, agents found clothing and a backpack matching descriptions from the robberies, a black pellet gun, and thousands of dollars in cash, including bills wrapped in bank bands from Truist Bank and Bank of America.
Mallory made his initial court appearance in West Palm Beach Federal Court on July 18, 2024.
He is scheduled for a pretrial detention hearing on July 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. before a United States Magistrate Judge in West Palm Beach.
