Monarch High School held another signing day featuring 10 football players and three softball players.
The Knights had another historic season, winning their third straight District Championship. The Knights advanced to the Regional Semifinals and finished the season with seven wins. They previously had four players sign in the fall: Samari Reed, Bryan Auguste, Antwaun Parnham, and Romando Johnson.
William Gedeon will play at Bethune Cookman University and was on the offensive line, recording 30 pancake blocks. Shomari Lawrence and Mekhi Miller are each headed to Fayetteville State in North Carolina. Lawrence was a third-team all-county and finished last season with 36 tackles,11 tackles for loss, five sacks, and one forced fumble. Miller was a second-team all-county with 75 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 16 quarterback hurries, three blocked field goals, forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three pass deflections.
Jaylen Woods, Aiden Guy, Jammer Beauzuil, Jeremy Daniel, and Miguerson Relelus are all set to attend Anna Maria College in Massachusetts. Woods caught 24 passes for 255 yards and touchdowns last season, while he had 341 yards as a junior with three scores. He also had a touchdown during his sophomore year while Guy and Beauzuil combined for 46 pancake blocks.
Daniel had 56 tackles, with eight coming behind the line of scrimmage. He is a three-star recruit with seven pass deflections and three sacks. Relelus only played in a pair of games but had a tackle in each. Jaymin Blake is signed with Garden City Community College in Kansas and has 18 pancake blocks, while Kaden Ryder will attend Beloit College in Wisconsin and has 56 career pancake blocks.
The softball team has Sammie Rice signed with Polk State College. She hit .404 with two home runs, seven doubles, two triples, and 17 RBIs while the team went 10-12. Mia Macaione will attend the State College of Florida-Manatee and is a lifetime .292 hitter. She hit both her home runs as a junior and has 12 extra-base hits along with 41 career RBIs, 44 runs scored, and five wins on the mound.
Sara Connor is signed with Daytona State College and has a .308 career average while hitting a home run in her freshman and junior years. She scored 10 doubles, two triples, 42 RBIS, and 31 runs. These three seniors are also underway in their final season, as the Knights are already 1-0 this season following a win over Calvary Christian Academy.
