The Marjory Stoneman Douglas boy’s soccer had their season come to an end after their 2-0 loss to Spanish River Community High School on Saturday, but their performance is something that will not be forgotten.
The Eagles started 0-2 and had a two-week period in quarantine after a positive COVID-19 test but responded by winning their next eight games, including four of them coming in the playoffs before their loss in the regional semifinals Saturday night.
MSD went into the postseason as the last seed in the division and defeated Coral Springs High School, Deerfield Beach, and Coral Glades to win a District Championship. They went on to beat Park Vista High School following their incredible comeback for a chance to play in the regional semifinals.
“I am very proud of the boys and the way they worked this season,” said Head Coach Christian Chacon. “They overcame every challenge that was thrown at them.”
While the Eagles will have a special group of seniors graduating this spring, they have a strong core of players coming back next year as they try to break through and get a chance to play in the states.
