During this time of uncertainty, Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is going to bat for health care workers.
Rizzo, a World Series Champion and three-time MLB All-Star, started his baseball career at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Known for his community efforts, he has spent the last ten days providing meals while helping local restaurants during this difficult time.
Through the generosity of their donors, The Anthony Rizzo Foundation has provided more than 1,000 meals from Parkland area restaurants to health care workers on the front lines.
Rizzo said they are grateful for the donations everyone has given.
“I know everyone at the hospitals and the front line workers have been so appreciative of this,” he said.
A statement from The Rizzo Family said they had received feedback about how much these simple meals have meant, actually bringing many to tears.
“These health care workers are putting themselves at risk, their families at risk and even foregoing seeing their loved ones for months to protect our families, friends, and neighbors,” said the Rizzo family, who are asking for help to continue showing these individuals how much they are cared for.
