A man was arrested after fleeing West Boca Hospital and ramming an officer’s vehicle with a stolen golf cart.
Later identified as Jeffery Skyler Straight, 51, of Margate, on October 3, he was apprehended after an alleged crime spree that involved multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault, burglary, and grand theft auto.
According to Coconut Creek Police Department records, the authorities responded to an initial call at West Boca Medical, where Straight reportedly fled from the facility under suspicious circumstances.
While officers set up a perimeter and units searched for Straight, he reportedly attempted to steal a bicycle from the rear patio of a local residence before making his way to another location, where he stole a golf cart from an opened maintenance garage.
With CCPD officers in pursuit, records show that Straight fled the scene in the golf cart, and a chase ensued, spanning roughly a mile.
During the chase, the arrest report shows that Straight rammed the stolen golf cart into the officer’s patrol vehicle twice, causing significant damage. Following the impact, Straight abandoned the golf cart and attempted to flee on foot.
Officers were led on a foot pursuit before successfully apprehending Straight, who was taken into custody.
Straight was transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
