In honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day on Jan.27, the Parkland Friends of the Library is hosting a grand opening of the “No Child’s Play” exhibit.
The special exhibit, which opens a window into the world of children during the Holocaust, runs January 3 – 29 at the Parkland Library.
Friends of the Library President Sharry Kimmel said the exhibit is especially relevant for Parkland for several reasons.
“First, the topic of childhood resilience and secondly, bringing diversity education to the city,” said Kimmel.
On Tuesday, January 11, at 5 p.m., the Holocaust Survivor Band performs. Then, guests can observe images of the toys, games, artwork, diaries, and poems, highlighting the personal stories of the children during the Holocaust.
The exhibit, curated by Yad Vashem, is on loan in January and is sponsored by the City of Parkland, the Jewish Federation of Broward, and Parkland Friends of the Library. They raise funds through memberships, donations, and book sales to support the programming and services.
