As their competition in Orlando approaches, The Parkland Rangers Cheerleaders are holding multiple fundraisers to help with the cost.

The Parkland Rangers competitive cheerleaders attract students from all over Coral Springs, Parkland, and Tamarac. They currently have three squads: Mighty Mites, Junior Pee-Wee and Junior Varsity.

In preparation for their first regional competition over Thanksgiving weekend, the teams are holding a showcase to perform their routines for parents and supporters.

On Thursday, November 19, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., attendees can support the teams by purchasing Pasquale’s Pizza or Sub-Zero ice cream, and a portion of the evening’s sales will go to the team.

Then on Wednesday, November 25, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza is donating 20 percent of each meal purchased to the Rangers. Residents can participate in this fundraiser all day by using take out, pick-up, or even a delivery app.

Heather Jean, head coach of the junior varsity team, said these girls have worked so hard over the past five months. Her daughter, Savannah, 13, has been on the Rangers since she was 5-years-old.

In 2018, the JV team placed fourth at the Pop Warner National Cheer and Dance Championships, and they are hopeful they will get there again this year.

“We want to raise money so the girls can enjoy the competition, maybe go to Universal Studios and the other events,” said Jean.

Featuring over 200 cheer and dance teams from around the country, the three-day-long tournament will take place at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando from December 5th to 7th.

“We would for love everyone to see the girls in action and help get them to nationals,” said Jean, whose son was also a Ranger. He played tackle football before joining the varsity team at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

The showcase will take place at the Pine Trails Park Amphitheater. Attendees should bring their own chairs and wear masks.
