If you’re looking for a way to get your kids some fun and fresh air during spring break, Spitfire Farm has the perfect solution.
Located right behind Tradewinds Park in Coconut Creek, the premier equestrian facility is owned by Ejola and Paul Cook.
After their successful winter break camp, they decided to create more opportunities for a safe, enriching place to bring children on their days off from school.
“It brought people to the farm who weren’t familiar with the equine world and were looking for something different for their kids,” said Ejola, who has families reaching out asking her to do more camps.
As a working mom of four, Ejola knows how hard it is to find a safe place to keep children occupied without their electronics. Spitfire Farm’s Horse Camp gets kids out in the fresh air, learning the parts of running a farm, caring for horses, and participating in activities like painting horses and nature walks.
“I’m a working parent too, I know what that feels like,” said Ejola, who takes pride in developing an outlet for kids on days they’re not in school. From going on scavenger hunts to playing tag, there are five-acres of space for campers to roam.
“The children come in with a fresh perspective. There’s no drama – just kids having a good time,” she said.
Although the children ride horses daily, they also participate in outdoor games, arts and crafts, and different activities, where they can explore and get creative making their own adventures and using their imagination.
“One day we had a picnic and visited another farm,” said Ejola, “We have a lot of great vendors coming in and teaching the kids different aspects of horse care.”

Ejola said most people think of horseback riding as a girls’ activity, but it’s not at all.
“We have a bunch of elementary and middle school boys coming to the farm, and they’ve formed some really nice friendships,” she said.

Spitfire Farm’s Spring Break Horse Camp takes place Monday, March 21, through Friday, March 25, with other one-day options on Friday, March 18, and Monday, March 28. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with before and aftercare available from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Open to children starting at age five, the cost is $85 per day or $400 for the week, and space is limited. Reserve a spot by calling 954-903-1772.
