The North Broward Prep baseball team made quite a run, but ultimately fell one run short in its quest for a fourth State Championship in the last six years.
The Eagles, who captured City, District, and Regional titles this season, put up an incredible fight in the State Championship game. Trailing late, they scored three runs in the seventh inning to keep their hopes alive, but ultimately fell by a run after the game-winning run crossed in the bottom of the seventh inning. Gabriel Goupet led the offense with two RBIs, while Caden Coleman, Julian Rodriguez, and Marcus Hall all had RBIs.
NBP previously also delivered one of the most dominant pitching performances of the postseason in the State Semifinals, as Jack Rostock tossed a complete-game shutout on only 80 pitches. Smith, Rodriguez, Nico Dibella, and Goulet drove in runs as the Eagles finished the season with a record of 25-7.
