It’s the day that’s sort of squeezed between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and not many people may have heard of it: Small Business Saturday, and it’s set aside to, well, support small businesses across the U.S.
Started by American Express back in 2010, it’s estimated that over 112 million shoppers participated in Small Business Saturday back in 2016 by shopping at a local business.
Another reason to shop with Small Business Saturday is that approximately 67 cents of every dollar spent at a small business remain in the local community.
But the most important reason to shop local is that by spending our money on independent businesses in our community, we are supporting them and their families. So visit that independent coffee shop, flower shop, restaurant, or salon.
