The Parkland Library honored Memorial Day by presenting a slideshow of inspirational photographs and poetic narration.

Led by Vice Mayor Stacy Kagan, special guests Ronald Stancavage and Alan Paley shared their thoughts on Memorial Day.

Kagan spoke about the men and women who lost their lives in time of war. “We are so fortunate for all of those who have served that have made us lucky enough to live the life we live today. They have paid the ultimate price.”

Ronald Stancavage, Sgt in the U.S. Army who served in Vietnam, and is the President of the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs, lifetime member of the VFW, and member of the board of the Veterans Coalition, read ‘The Soldier’s Poem’ to the audience.

Alan Paley, who served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and has been involved with Veteran’s organizations for over 50 years is currently the State Commander of the Jewish War Veterans and is treasurer of the Veterans Coalition of Coral Springs. He read “For the Fallen” by Robert Laurence Binyon.

A slideshow with photos was then accompanied by music by Darlene Weingarten, a member of the South Florida Chapter of the American Harp Society.
