{Office of Christine Hunschofsky}
From State Rep Christine Hunschofsky:
March is the beginning of Spring, and this year, it is also the beginning of the 2025 Legislative Session, which is scheduled to begin on March 4 and run through May 2. Session is a busy time when bills move through the legislative process, and we work on presenting a balanced budget. Each State Representative is given seven bill slots to file legislation. Due to this limitation and the fact that session is only 60 days long, we are unable to file all the bills we would like to and have to carefully weigh what legislation we will carry.
Currently, I have sponsored the following bills:
HB 27/29: Social Worker Compact – This would allow Florida to join the compact and allow licensed social workers in our State to treat their patients in member states. This will provide a continuum of care for our residents who are students, snowbirds, military families, or spend time in another compact state.
HB 393: My Safe Florida Home Condominium Pilot Program – This will make changes to the program I sponsored last year, including requiring 75% of the owners to agree to participate. The goal is to make it easier for associations to participate in the program.
Other bills I will be filing/sponsoring prior to the session include:
Coral Springs Parkland Annexation – A local bill to codify the agreement made by the cities of Coral Springs and Parkland to annex 8.7 acres of land in the City of Coral Springs into the City of Parkland
NSID Conflicting Employment or Contractual Relationships – A local bill that will close a loophole and prevent North Springs Improvement District officers or employees from doing business with their district.
School Safety – Will improve upon last year’s bill based on the feedback I have heard, and will include additional measures to keep our students, faculty, and staff safe.
We send out a weekly e-newsletter during session to keep you updated on what is happening in Tallahassee and in the district. If you do not already receive our newsletter, please email us at HD095@flhouse.gov with “subscribe” in the subject line. The State Legislature regulates many professions and areas that impact us in our everyday lives. It is important to me that I know your thoughts on the issues we are voting on, so please do not hesitate to reach out to share your thoughts or concerns. I appreciate your input!
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve as your representative in the Florida House. My office is here to help wherever we can, so please reach out at 954-956-5600 or HD095@flhouse.gov with any questions or concerns you may have.
