John Grover McIntyre {BSO}
A man wanted for kidnapping in Arizona was arrested after police say he strangled and beat his wife during a violent domestic dispute that ended at a Coconut Creek Marathon gas station.
According to a probable cause affidavit, officers with the Coconut Creek Police Department responded to a Marathon gas station around 1:20 a.m. on August 13 following a 911 call about a domestic disturbance.
Police said the victim reported that her husband, John Grover McIntyre, 60, assaulted her at their home, then got into her car and tried to grab the keys as she drove to a gas station and called 911.
The victim reported that the incident began during an argument over car keys. McIntyre allegedly pulled her hair, punched her, and forced her onto a bed where he allegedly bit her arm and strangled her. The report shows that officers documented visible injuries, including bruising and red marks consistent with her account.
Upon interview. McIntyre claimed he was attempting to stop the victim from driving because she had been drinking, but there is no indication in the report if officers determined this to be true.
McIntyre was taken into custody and arrested for domestic assault by strangulation. He is currently being held without bond.
Court records show McIntyre is currently on probation in Brevard County for a 2023 grand theft case. Investigators also confirmed he has multiple active warrants, including a kidnapping charge in Arizona.
