A long and contentious relationship involving the leadership of the Wynmoor community in Coconut Creek and Philippa Sklaar, a resident and former candidate for city commission, has come to an end.
The Wynmoor administration announced on July 11 that a full and final resolution of the lawsuits brought against Sklaar by the Wynmoor leadership had been resolved, according to a statement produced by Jackie Railey, Council president, Bruce Bandler, Administrator, and Keith Arnold, Assistant Administrator and Chief Financial Officer.
Sklaar had complained about the leadership of Wynmoor and ran against Railey for her District B Seat on the Coconut Creek commission during the March election. Railey is now the mayor.
According to the statement, after years of enduring false accusations and public attacks, this matter has been resolved in favor of Wynmoor’s officers, directors, and employees. For the good of the community, the leadership decided to accept Sklaar’s request for settlement. The settlement amount was not disclosed.
According to the statement, for more than three years, Wynmoor’s leadership was the target of defamatory statements, widely circulated through social media, videos, and public forums. Also, multiple complaints were filed with state agencies, ethics commissions, and professional oversight boards. All of these complaints were reviewed and dismissed, and no wrongdoing was found, according to the statement.
Rather than defend her claims in court, Sklaar offered a financial settlement, and her decision to settle, rather than face judgment on the facts, speaks for itself, according to the statement.
“I am just hoping this will put an end to the attempt to divide the community,” said Railey.
