Mainstreet at Coconut Creek has one restaurant committed to opening at the new development.
Mayor Jackie Railey said Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar is in the initial phases of purchasing a property for their restaurant and would require approval from the city.
“We are very optimistic about this restaurant coming to Mainstreet and believe it will be good for Coconut Creek,” said Railey.
Lazy Dog, based in Costa Mesa, California, is a casual dining restaurant with locations in eight states. The founder, Chris Simms, named the restaurant chain Lazy Dog because he wanted to make it more attractive to kids. According to Wikipedia, the restaurant’s seats have dog prints to make children feel welcome.
The restaurant offers a variety of hamburgers, meatloaf, pulled pork and fried chicken sandwiches. It also serves steak, ribs, and a variety of salads and bowls, according to the Lazy Dog website.
Vice Mayor Jeffrey Wasserman said he is excited that a restaurant chain is planning to open at Mainstreet.
