For the fourth straight year, the Monarch High School football team has had an offensive lineman commit to play at the Division I level, with Lorvens Barthelemy heading to Florida A&M University.
Monarch has now sent over 70 players to college, as Barthelemy feels like he chose the right school.
“It feels great,” Barthelemy said. “I knew God had a plan for me, so I took the route he wanted me to go. It’s nothing less than a blessing to get the exposure I’ve been wanting and actually getting a chance to play at the next level.”
Barthelemy began playing football at the age of nine with the Deerfield Packer Rattlers, alongside the Pompano Cowboys and Lauderhill Lions. He is set for his senior season with the Knights, who have won three straight District Championships and have recorded 27 wins in the last three years.
Barthelemy attended a camp at FAMU and quickly realized it was the right school for him. The players came out and showed their appreciation while also helping each player improve. With one more year left, Barthelemy hopes to improve his speed, getting good blocks on the second level, and also post-stepping. He will be joining a college program that went 7-5 last season.
