The Coconut Creek High School football team is set for the playoffs after closing out the regular season and earning the No. 2 seed in the postseason.
The Cougars suffered only their second loss of the season on October 30, falling 34-7 to Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory School. They were scheduled to resume their game against Archbishop McCarthy High School on Wednesday but were instead credited with a victory after leading 27-17 in the fourth quarter.
Coconut Creek is now 8-2 and will host Deerfield Beach High School on Friday, November 13, at 7 p.m. in the opening round of the playoffs. The Bucks started the season 4-0 before dropping their next four games. However, they bounced back with two straight wins to finish the regular season at 6-4.
The winner will advance to the semifinals to face either Monarch High School or Mater Lakes Academy. Archbishop McCarthy, Olympic Heights, Southridge and Piper High School also qualified for the postseason.
