Members of the Women’s Club of Coconut Creek got together at the Hometown Market to have fun, sell crafts to raise money for their scholarship program, and promote upcoming events on the morning of January 3.
The theme of the day was “Arts & Crafts.”
The members enjoyed chatting together under their tent and selling craft items and their calendar with photographs of men and women from the Coconut Creek Fire Department. The Women’s Club is currently planning its Hearts & Crafts Fair, according to Linda Rondinone, Club Secretary.
“Every dollar that we raise throughout the year goes toward our scholarship programs,” said Rondinone. “We offer two scholarships to high school seniors, one for an individual to attend the fire academy, and four $500 grants for teachers to purchase supplies for their classrooms.”
They were among a group of small business operators in the area who came together to offer products ranging from crafts to clothing to food. “We offer this market every two weeks, and it is a good opportunity for small business owners to have a place to sell their products. It is a community event, and we offer fun activities for children,” said Leo Moleiro, Special Events Coordinator.
The vendors include individuals such as Howard Mintz of Coconut Creek, who runs Popcorn Possibilities and offers eight popcorn flavors. “I enjoy being a part of this market,” he said.
Irene Nuzzi, of Coconut Creek, sells beads, key chains, and other items. “I like coming here and being a part of this market,” she said.
Sofia Kaplan and Connor Opdyke, both of Coral Springs, were selling crackers for Open Oven Bakery. “This is a good market, and there is a very diverse customer base here,” said Opdyke.
Hometown Market is on the first and third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will run through March 21. The next one is January 17, and the theme is “Bring Your Pet Day.” On February 7, the theme will be “Love and Kindness.”
The market is located at Township Plaza, on the southeast corner of Sample Road and Lyons Road in Coconut Creek.
