From State Rep. Christine Hunschofsky:
Happy New Year! I hope you and your family had an enjoyable holiday season and are having a great start to a better and brighter year ahead!
It was wonderful to be back home for the holidays and have everyone under one roof. The New Year is often a time where we reflect on the past and make resolutions on how we can improve upon the future. These past few years I have chosen a one-word resolution to set the tone and personally guide me for the year ahead. This year, I have chosen the word appreciation. The past few years have reminded me how quickly time passes us by and how our world can change in a moment’s notice. I have also been reminded how precious time is and that no day is promised. With life’s fast pace, it’s easy to get caught up in daily stress and take for granted the blessings we are given every day, no matter how small they may be, and no matter how challenging our day may be. Sometimes we forget to notice the good moments and to tell our family and friends how much we care and love them. I have found taking time every morning and during the day to find a few moments to practice deep breathing and refocus efforts has been very helpful not only in my perspective on things, but also in being more efficient and effective. This year I will continue to strive to be mindful, to be present in the moment, to not let the negative completely drown out the positive, to keep things in perspective, and to work toward solutions.
One of the things that always keeps me grounded is listening to people, hearing their stories, and learning from them. There is something so beautiful when we can connect on a personal level with the people who live in our communities. I am always inspired and humbled to hear people’s life stories, the ups and the downs, and the challenges they overcame. There is always so much we can learn from one another. We have so many incredible people in our community who show up and give back whenever they can. They are often the overlooked heroes who I personally appreciate and have so much gratitude for.
Thank you for bringing me into your daily life this past year and for trusting me to serve as your District 95 State Representative in the Florida Legislature. As we continue to work together to achieve positive outcomes for our community it is my honor to serve, share your stories, raise your concerns, and ensure that you have my continuous commitment to making a difference. While we have made progress in areas regarding mental health, occupational licensure, school safety, and so much more, we still have a significant amount of work ahead to deal with increasing property insurance rates, cost of living, the affordability crisis, and so much more. Bills addressing these issues continue to be filed every session and will hopefully get hearings soon.
The legislative session begins this month in Tallahassee on January 13 and is scheduled to run through March 13. You can follow all the bills filed and coming before the various committees by visiting www.flhouse.gov. Please reach out to me with any thoughts and concerns you may have. Your input is a necessary and valued part of this process.
As always, please feel free to reach out to our office at 954-953-2760 with any questions you may have. I will also be providing updates on Facebook at @RepChristineHunschofsky, in Instagram at @chrishunschofsky and X at @rephunschofsky. If you wish to receive email updates on what’s happening during session and in the community, please email us at HD095@FLHOUSE.gov. Wishing you and your family a happy, healthy, peaceful, and successful New Year!
