The City of Coconut Creek invites local homeschool families to explore the outdoors at its upcoming Homeschool Nature Walk and Outing on Tuesday, March 3, at Sabal Pines Park.
The program, designed for children ages 5 to 12, will run from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and includes a guided walk along the park’s nature trail and interactive educational activities. Participants will take part in a scavenger hunt, learn to identify native plants and wildlife, enjoy arts and crafts using natural materials, and participate in geocaching and other outdoor learning experiences. Each participant will also receive an itinerary leaflet for the outing.
Parents or guardians must attend with their children. Participants are encouraged to dress comfortably and bring sunscreen, bug repellent, and water.
The program costs $15 for Coconut Creek residents and $20 for non-residents. To qualify for resident pricing, participants must present a state-issued driver’s license or valid passport along with proof of residency, such as a voter registration card or a water, cable, or electric bill dated within the last two months. Payment is accepted by credit card only.
The event will be held at Sabal Pines Park, located at 5005 NW 39th Ave. Registration is open until the program reaches capacity, with space limited to 20 participants.
Families may register online at CoconutCreek.gov/Webtrac or in person at the Recreation Complex or the Community Center, located at 1100 Lyons Road. Participants must have a WebTrac account before registering online. Assistance with account setup is available by calling the Recreation Complex at 954-956-1580.
To verify age and legal guardianship, families registering in person may be asked to provide a copy of the child’s birth certificate.
