Coconut Creek Appoints Magistrate to Hear Cases Involving School Zone Speeding

A special magistrate has been appointed for city code enforcement and adjudication of school zone speed detection system enforcement matters.
During the June 25 meeting, the commission approved a resolution to authorize the city manager to execute an independent contractor agreement with Richard Doody for professional municipal special magistrate services, according to city information. The agreement states that Doody will be paid $150 per hour for his services.
Doody will serve as the local hearing officer designated to conduct hearings requested by alleged victims who wish to contest notices of violation issued under the school zone speed detection program.
