Coconut Creek High School has officially seen a pair of former standouts commit to new programs for the 2026 college football season.
Erron Brown, a Coconut Creek High School graduate, has committed to East Texas A&M after beginning his collegiate career at Florida A&M University. Brown spent two years playing varsity football for the Cougars, recording 31 tackles and 10.5 sacks while helping the team win 16 games combined.
At the collegiate level, Brown appeared in six games as a freshman, finishing with eight tackles and one sack. During his sophomore season, he played in 14 games and totaled 18 tackles, two sacks, and one pass defended. Brown will now compete in the Southland Conference with an East Texas A&M program that won three games last season.
Another Coconut Creek High alumnus, James Hayes, also a 2024 graduate, has committed to Florida A&M University after starting his college career at Alabama State.
During his high school career, Hayes helped lead the Cougars to a District Championship in 2023, throwing 23 touchdown passes. He capped the season with a postseason win over Piper High School, accounting for three touchdowns—two passing and one rushing.
As a freshman in college, Hayes redshirted after appearing in two games and making his first collegiate start against Miles College. In that contest, he completed 5 of 11 passes for 88 yards and two touchdowns before suffering a knee injury. During his sophomore season, Hayes played in one game against Tuskegee, completing 5 of 6 passes for 41 yards.
Hayes will now join the Southwestern Athletic Conference, competing for a Florida A&M team that won four games last season.
