Three Coconut Creek High School seniors have been nominated to represent their school at the Miami Herald Silver Knight Awards, one of the area’s most prestigious student honors.
The CCHS nominees are Abianeta Louis, Mika Petit-Homme, and Jayda Washington, who were selected to compete in three academic categories.
The Miami Herald Silver Knight Awards recognize high school seniors who excel in academics while making meaningful contributions through community service. The program includes 15 academic categories, including Art, Athletics, Business, Journalism, Mathematics, Science, and others.
Coconut Creek High School’s Magnet Coordinator for Creek Technical Academy, Dr. Marlene Bodine-Landis, is serving as the school coordinator for this year’s competition.
Louis was nominated in the General Scholarship category in recognition of her strong academic record and leadership.
Petit-Homme was nominated in the Vocational Technical category, highlighting her achievements in hands-on learning and real-world skills.
Washington was nominated in the Digital & Interactive Media category for her creativity, technical dedication, and work in the field.
Silver Knight winners receive a $2,000 scholarship, a Silver Knight statue, and a round-trip ticket from American Airlines. Three honorable mentions in each category receive $500 and a plaque.
All three CCHS nominees will represent the school at the 68th Annual Silver Knight Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 12, at the James L. Knight Center in Miami.
