A Coconut Creek man was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated battery, causing bodily harm, and disability after investigators alleged he purposely closed a garage door on his mother, causing significant injuries.
Coconut Creek Police Department records show Donald Francis Esposito, 32, was taken into custody on January 26 following an incident reported at a residence in the 1400 block of Northwest 48th Avenue, court documents show.
CCPD officers responded to the scene following a 911 call shortly before noon. According to a probable cause affidavit, Esposito’s mother suffered a significant head injury when she fell due to the garage door slamming her to the ground, resulting in a deep laceration to the lower rear portion of her head that was bleeding heavily. She was transported to North Broward Hospital, where she received eight staples to close the wound.
The report also notes she sustained a separate laceration to her right ankle when the garage door closed on her foot, which was also bleeding extensively
Esposito was arrested at the scene and transported to the Broward County Main Jail. Records show he is held without bond pending his first court appearance.
The report does not indicate what led to Esposito’s alleged actions, only that he purposefully used the garage door to injure his mother.
