A Coconut Creek Planet Fitness employee is accused of using a customer’s lost credit card to buy BBQ and beer.
According to a Coconut Creek Police Department arrest report, Eduardo Nicholas Moraga, 42, of Weston, was arrested on August 1 and charged with fraudulent use of personal identification information without consent.
Records show the victim told police that her Capital One credit card went missing while she was working out at Planet Fitness, 4291 West Hillsboro Boulevard, on July 18. Later that day, she told investigators she received alerts showing two unauthorized transactions: a $3.75 charge at Planet Fitness and a $27.66 purchase at BBQ Boutique, located in the same shopping plaza.
The victim immediately flagged the transactions as fraud and notified authorities.
Investigators obtained surveillance video from BBQ Boutique, which allegedly showed a man – later identified as Moraga – wearing his orange Planet Fitness uniform purchasing a meal and an alcoholic beverage using the victim’s credit card. Police also collected a receipt and statement from the cashier.
On July 23, an officer showed images from the surveillance footage to a Planet Fitness representative, who identified the man in the video as employee Moraga.
Moraga was arrested, transported to the Broward County Main Jail, and later released after posting a $2,500 bond.
