Coconut Creek received a major state appropriation during the October 22 meeting.
Florida Representative Christine Hunschofsky made a ceremonial $550,000 check presentation to the commission for state-appropriations funding for the city’s Northeast Utilities Expansion Project.
This money will fund expansion of the water and wastewater infrastructure north of Hillsboro Boulevard between Lyons Road and NW 39 Avenue.
Hunschofsky thanked the commission for its advocacy at the state legislature in support of her effort to secure state appropriations. She also praised her staff for securing the appropriations.
Vice Mayor John Brodie said the money will improve the water system in north Coconut Creek and benefit the city’s residents.
