City of Coconut Creek Announces Youth Theater Production of Disney’s Moana Jr.

The City of Coconut Creek has announced its upcoming Youth Theater program, featuring a production of Disney’s Moana Jr.

The Youth Theater program allows children ages 8 to 14 to explore the world of theater, learning skills such as character development, vocal projection, direction, and set and prop construction.

The program begins on February 13, 2025, and runs through May 31, 2025. Classes will be held at the Recreation Complex, 4455 Sol Press Boulevard.

Participants will meet on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with no sessions scheduled on February 22, March 22, March 26, March 27, and March 29. The program culminates in a live performance of Moana Jr. on Saturday, May 31, at 12:30 p.m.

Aspiring performers will audition on Thursday, February 13, at 6:30 p.m., where they will be assigned roles for the production. The program fee is $200 for Coconut Creek residents and $235 for non-residents, payable by credit card. This fee includes scripts and performance materials, though participants are responsible for their own costumes and props.

Space in the program is limited to 16 participants, and registration will remain open until all spots are filled. Interested families can register online at CoconutCreek.net/WebTrac or at the Recreation Complex or the Community Center at 1100 Lyons Road.
