Coconut Creek High School’s Jayda Washington continues to shine after being named an All-American after competing in the US Track and Field National Youth Outdoor Championship with the Miami Northwest Express Track Club .
Held at Icahn Stadium in New York City, Washington came in second place in the long jump. She said competing at USATF Nationals was an unforgettable experience while having the chance to learn, grow, and connect with amazing athletes from across the country.
“Climbing from 57th at Junior Olympics last year to 2nd at Nationals this summer filled me with deep gratitude for everyone who supported me along the way,” Washington said. “What once felt impossible became reality through faith.”
Washington previously had a tremendous season with Coconut Creek, finishing second in the Long jump at the District Championship. She also ran in the 100 and 200 meters before competing in the long jump and 4 x 400 relay at the State Regional Championship.
Her success goes beyond the track as she is heading into her senior year.
