Monarch High School defeated Piper High School on Friday night, securing a fourth straight District Title and fifth in school history following a 41-32 victory.
The game was scoreless through the first quarter, but the Knights scored three times in the second quarter and took a 21-13 lead into halftime, scored two more times in the third, and, despite being outscored 19-6 in the final frame, pulled out a win behind 223 yards rushing from Keshawn Pachsall. He added a touchdown, as Florentio Lopez also threw touchdown passes to Jabari Brady and Bryan Bines.
Brady also had an 86-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, while Lopez also had a rushing score. The Knights are 5-4 and will host Senior Night against Blanche Ely High School in their final game of the regular season on Thursday, October 30, at 7 p.m. The Tigers are 3-6 this year and lost 52-42 in a wild game a season ago. This game will be played at Monarch High School, marking the first game to be held on campus since 2003.
