Freedom Week Brings Tax-Free Savings to Florida

Mark your calendars for Freedom Week –Florida’s most recently added ‘holiday’ offering tax-free purchases on events, tickets, outdoor supplies, and more.

On May 21, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into effect a tax relief package to help Floridians get back to ‘normal’ post-pandemic.

“This tax package will include the first-ever Freedom Week, which will be a seven-day sales tax holiday on outdoor recreational purchases, as well as tickets for events, museums, the arts, and more,” DeSantis said.

Freedom week runs from July 1 through July 7, and items that will be tax-free under the Freedom Week Sales Tax Holiday include music events, sporting events, cultural events, movies, museums, state park annual passes, fitness facilities for events, and season ticket purchases.

Tax-free items also apply to boat sales and water activity supplies, camping supplies, fishing supplies, general outdoor supplies, and sports equipment.

Included in the tax cut package are the Disaster Preparedness Tax Holiday (May 28 through June 6) and the Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday (July 31 through August 9), which was expanded from a weekend of tax-free savings to 10 days.
