Full Week of Athletics for Monarch: Playoff Battles, Early-Season Wins and 2 College Commits

Monarch High School had a full week of sports, highlighted by the football team's second playoff game of the season and two commitments.
The Knights lost their matchup against second-seeded West Broward High School 38-12. Monarch finished the season with seven wins, including a playoff win against Doral Academy.
The season also featured the team winning its fourth straight District Title and fifth overall in school history. Quarterback Florentino Lopez finished as one of the leaders in Florida in passing yards, while Jabari Brady had over 1,000 receiving yards once again.
Christian Davis and Jabroee Riggins were the latest two commits, as Davis is headed to the University of North Dakota. Davis was a key piece on defense, finishing the season with two interceptions. Riggins is committed to Akron University and caught 46 passes for 548 yards while also scoring six touchdowns.
The boys basketball team dropped their opening game of the season 72-55 in the opening game. The Knights went 7-11 last year and will play West Boca Raton Community High School in their next game on Tuesday, December 2, at 7:30 p.m.
The girls' basketball team, though, won 57-15 against Somerset Academy and is already one win away from their win total a season ago. They will play Parkridge Christian Academy on Wednesday, December 3, at 6 p.m.
The boys ' soccer team began the season with four wins and four ties. They had their most dominant win, beating Hollywood Hills High School 8-0 to start the week before handing Somerset Academy Canyons their first loss of the season in a 2-1 Knights win.
The girls' soccer team is 3-1-1 this year and began the week with a 5-0 win over Somerset Prep, with Sarah Hernandez scoring two goals. Daniella Abadir and Adrianna Tuesta each had a goal and an assist, while Hernandez and Angelo Pirolo added assists.
The Knights then played to a 0-0 draw against Hollywood Hills High School, the third shutout of the season for Monarch, before a 9-0 loss against St. Thomas Aquinas in their last game. Next, they will play Everglades High School on Tuesday, December 2.
