Coconut Creek Fire Department {Aiden Palmer for Coconut Creek Talk}
An early morning house fire in Coconut Creek left one man hospitalized for smoke inhalation, killed seven cats and displaced a family Monday.
Coconut Creek Fire Rescue responded to the fire at about 4:14 a.m. on July 20 at a home in the 900 block of Palmetto Drive in the South Creek neighborhood.
Firefighters found the home heavily damaged by the blaze. An adult man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
Seven cats inside the home died in the fire. A dog survived and made it out safely.
The family who lived in the home was displaced by the fire and is expected to stay with relatives, according to fire officials.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation
