A man was charged with multiple felonies after allegedly burglarizing a Coconut Creek tool shop twice in the same week, police said.
Jesus Regueiro, 28, was arrested on Nov. 6 after police said he broke the rear glass window of Northern Tool and Equipment, 1301 West Copans Rd., and stole five electric concrete chainsaws shortly before 10 p.m. on Nov. 2, according to an arrest affidavit.
Coconut Creek Police said Reguerio, of Pompano Beach, stole around $6,700 in Stihl chainsaws from the closed business on Nov. 2 and escaped in a car.
Four days later, BSO and city police detectives conducting covert surveillance on Regueiro’s 2011 silver Toyota Prius watched as he allegedly broke into the same tool store again, this time using an electric saw to cut away a window and carry more chainsaws out of the business, records state.
He was wearing a mask and gloves at the time and appeared to know the layout of the business, as well as which window to target, the affidavit states.
Charges against Regueiro – who police said stole more than $11,000 worth of high-powered chainsaws from the store in total – include two counts of burglary, two counts of felony grand theft, two counts of criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools.
He was also charged with violating probation terms set by a judge in a separate case, according to the records.
Regueiro served four years in prison for burglary-related crimes and was released in 2022, records state. Police, in their arrest report, described him as a “violent felony offender of special concern” due to his criminal history.
He was being held without bond Tuesday at the Broward Main Jail.
According to police, detectives investigating the tool shop burglaries also seized multiple items connected to business burglaries in Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.
Additional charges against Regueiro could be filed, police said.
